Passing by a hollow world Photo

Photographer’s Note

After 2 years time, back to one of my very favourite places in Greece, atmospheric Ioannina town, with its beautiful lake, and the picturesque little island in the lake and the village upon it.

I thought I remembered well the unique feeling that is walking on the lakeside road, especially when fog appears, and a weak sun is struggling to make way. But no, it was once again, an unforgetable experience, I couldn't believe my eyes, as if I came for the first time here. Apart from all other beauties, the lakeside road of Ioannina, is an open air art exbition, all kinds of artwork and sculptures are lined up beside the lake.

Some verses from a classic by Iggy Pop, "The Passenger" (I don't know how or why it came to my mind, although the feeling is rather contrary):

Geia Sou Hercules,
another wonderful picture in your amazing gallery, this one is just perfect, such a neat image with an amazing sky and perfect sharpness, despite the fog. The dark clouds add contrast, the environment and the men walking give a fairy atmosphere.

Place almost looks like haunted with its mysterios atmosphere.
...spherical statue, that I don'T understand what it is, heavy clouds, and two passers by near the lake...I like each detail of it; the branches coming out from sphere, the sun (not moon I guess) on right corner, the sky taking biggest place,
land&lake sharing lower part...
One more pearl goes to your treasure chest :)

An excellent B&W that suits the mood here. The composition is really nice with the sun in the right hand corner to balance the sphere. The exposure is right on but what's with the dirt specks? That's not like you at all.

Και όμως Ηρακλή! πάντα και όλα είναι μεταβαλλόμενα! Τίποτα στατικό και ίδιο! όλα αλλάζουν , ακόμη και εμείς. Ωραίος ο κόσμος της εικόνας!! αυτό που νομίζουμε ότι σήμερα είναι άσχημο, μπορεί με άλλη ψυχική διάθεση να το δούμε αύριο τέλειο! και το αντίθετο το υπέροχο να γίνει άσχημο! όλα εξαρτώνται από το φώς! ακόμη και το αμυδρό, εννοώ και το εσωτερικό....και το εξωτερικό! Απίθανη στιγμή. Αυτή άλλωστε δεν ψάχνουμε?

I'm really fond of this composition with the silhouette of the sculpture and the people passing by. They give a bit scary mood to the photo with the stormclouds above the lake. The choice of B&W was excellent to this scene!

Jesus, what a mood, Hercules! Outlandish compo, with the sculpture and the mysterious moon providing an otherworldly impression. The walkers are perfectly placed, and the overall gray hue adds drama to the image.

great grey POV, the heavy sky is frightenning the planet (in all meanings ?). I like the shadows of the sculpture and the walkers, they reinforce the strange feeling of end of the world.

Hello Hercules,
By Iggy Pop or by Cheaptrick this song goes well with the scene you bring us today with those 2 passers crossing themselves in one point of their lifes, maybe they never will do it again.
The mood of this photo is fantastic with the moon opthere lightning up things taking profit of a break in between the clouds.
Nice moment of life well presented and with this curious globe giving it some impact.

Una foto en gris con una excelente silueta y poca iluminacion que va muy bien con tu magnifica composición. El cielo con esas nubes de tormenta y un pequeño punto de sol están estupendos. Buen trabajo.

I think this composition is just genius idea. It seems so unreal, with the sphere and the people pasing. Firstly I thought that is night shot, made in moon light, but then I saw that the people aren't blurred and is B&W...
Your latest picture are very good, but this one just provoked me.

Bien choisi le N/B pour cette magnifique photo de soir. Excellente composition et merveilleuse silhouette. Je ne sais pas ce que représente la sculpture mais elle est très jolie, les deux personnages bien placés complète le tout pour cette belle photo. Très intéressante ta note et les paroles de la chanson qui l'accompagne.

There is a special atmosphere to your shot with the clouds and the sun peeping through them, and your description if this magical place comes through in the shot. Love the sculpture and the fence, and to top it off the silhouettes of the two men walking in opposite directions give a good dynamic. Perfect choice for black and white. Great work!
