Photographer’s Note
Location: Just east of Wendover there is a small road that leads to the Bonneville Salt Flats. This was taken about midway down that road. When you get to the salt flat there are no more bushes and the ground is white from the salt. Because of it large expanse and smooth surface it makes for an ideal location to set ground speed records with cars that look more like rockets.

Clear sky desert and mountains as this is like Balochistan, I wonder about the name Utah this feels me like Apache name I observed in Western Australia that many places were name of their Native people not English immigrants..
Well shot..

Hi Ryan:
I say keep the tire--it looks out of place enough that it adds some variety. :) I like it. You have a way of finding humor in landscapes. This one's quite a bit different from your other salt flat shots. Nice.

Looking at the thumbnail I thought you've headed to some African desert - the US landscape always amazes me by its diversity.
While I like the picture as it is, I think it would be perfect if the tire were separated from the shadow of the tussock behind it.

Hi Ryan,
I also say keep the tyre, it was part of this landscape before you arrived so why not make it part of the photo, and it's also fitting given the location near the famous salt flats.
Looking in your gallery, these wide flat American desert landscapes are something you have perfected so well. It's crystal clear, pin sharp and contrasted to perfection. Really, I don't think you could have done anything better.

Hi Ryan,
Blue skies and calm deserts always amaze me.
Wonderful composition. I think the tyre looks good.
It adds an element of humor and it makes the photo much more than a postcard from Utah!
Cheers,Neelima.

Hello Ryan! Still on my wishlist :))) but maybe one day my travels bring me to Bonneville ... we will see. Great photo with the old tire in the foreground showing the crazyness of this place and for me it is not necessary to always show the nices but also things that belong to places, and the races on this salt flats have a long history as I understand. Not much going on right now as it seems and nobody stands around but you. Great photo ... Barbara.

Hi Ryan,
Nice pun... Tire-d, hehehe...
Great shot, and what a funny observation with the tire - I agree with those who say keep the tire. Without it, it would just be a landscape shot (a good one though, but less interesting).
Thanks for sharing, best wishes

Hi, Ryan.
Simple, striking, perfectly framed. The magic of this location is all here on display, tire included. Technically flawless : lighting, contrast and colors are outstanding. TFS!
Have a good day, I'll be seeing you.

Great light and excellent sharpness for this beautiful desert landscape . You can keep the tyre . It adds something to the composition . I don't know exactly why , but I like its presence .

Hi Ryan,
Excellent shot. The sharpness is great and the composition is very well done. The bushes create a great depth of field. I love the way the tyre attracts our look and the shadows on the mountains. Very nice colours too.

Hello Ryan,
Magnifique luminosité dans cette scène désertique. Le pneu est un objet assez étrange et inopportun pour servir d'agréable centre d'intérêt supplémentaire. Les couleurs saturées sont splendides.
Bravo !

Hi, Ryan. I like your foreground with the small bushes here and there giving a very good depth to the image. The tire is of course the odd one out here, but is there to justify the pun in your title. Interesting light on the tops of the background, where the shadows are maybe a little too strong.
Have a nice day,
Philippe

Hi Ryan,
Superb work: light and long shadows, bright but soft tones, the tire as whimsical element. First class.

Great title! The photo is not too bad either - the stark beauty of the desert is really evident here. The angle of the light shows the shape of the hills well, and the absolute clarity of the image makes this seem very real and solid. Excellent work!

Hi Ryan,
The tyre is a real alien in such a wild and apparently unspoiled landscape, but it doesn't look bad at all in the image and combines well with the rest of the compo. Great PoV/compo and clarity. I like the subtle way you placed the bushes to lead the eye diagonally to the rocky hills on the BG.
Regards, José.

Hi Ryan
I dislike guys who lose non useful objects in the nature. i.e this tyre.
This raw landscape is fantastic why accept to include this kind of object. Without the tyre the picture should be perfect.
Cheers

Hi Ryan, A very bright and shiny desert scene. Iron in the mountain in the background makes the scene. as well as the dry tufts of grass. I like the tire in the foregroud, it certainly adds to the picture. Great shot. Cheers Roger

Hi Ryan
Was the tyre here or did you have one hidden in your boot ;-)
I love the play of light and shade and the tufts of grass sticking up out of the dessert.

Hi Ryan,
When I saw the thumbnail and the title, I supposed that you're presenting a "tired" moving stone (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sailing_stones). But the double meaning of your title is quite appropriate for this shot.
I like very much the light and shadows here.
Greetings,
Francisco
