| Présentation: | Hello, my name is Nick and I live in Athens, Greece. Cameras and I go a long way back. Since my childhood I had a vivid attraction to photo equipment. At the age of 13 I literally stole my first camera from the collection of my father, who finally decided to let me have it. It was a film Minolta Analog SLR with a manual 18-50mm lens. This was a great opportunity for me to explore the world of Shutter Speeds and Aperture Values and I even tried some experiments altering the ISO value (which I knew was film sensitivity, but artistically I didn't care much if the rating was not appropriate). The final outcome was always unexpected and unpredictable and could not be duplicated as there was no EXIF in the films. Whenever I found some unexposed film lying in a drawer (and my father always had some forgotten and expired(!)) I loaded it into my camera and begun shooting. The development was a painful surprise for my parents, but thankfully they didn't complain much about it. Since then, a lot have changed. I was introduced to Digital shooting and trial and error begun to enter my life since I had no faith relying on EXIF data. I discovered that my newly purchased Point And Shoot had nothing to do with my old SLR and I could not get the shots I wanted. Not long after my discovery, I purchased my first digital SLR, a Canon EOS 300D with a kit lens (I wanted to try Nikon, but I had resisted. I don't know if I should have, though). My second purchase was a 70-300mm Sigma lens which I use until today with my EOS 400D. I neglected the use of a Polarizer filter and that cost me in success and creativity. Don't make the same mistake, always use a polarizer and learn when to achieve maximum effect and when it is successful. I usually discard most of my photos and try to Post Process as little as possible. I believe the beauty of photography lies on the primary theme rather that the colorful combination. Of course, the combination of both really helps and should be a primary target. I try to post my best pictures although some of my friends tend to like the ones I won't be posting. I have not being careful when shooting, I tend not to watch at the little preview screen after each shot. Don't do the same mistake. I also spend little time Post Processing, aiming at the best shot when it's taken. A little more PP would not hurt, though. I hope you like my point of view, storytelling or frozen time shots. I believe in improvement through hearing what others have to say about my photos, so shoot at will! You can only make me better! Thanks for stopping by Nick |
