I've just added some "sappiness" usin Photoshop:

1) Contrast +2
2) Saturation +30, Hue -2
3) Played with Selective color, changed a little bit Yellow and Green tones.
4) Unsharpen Mask (77, 0.2, 1)

I did some work in Photoshop:

1) Used curves to hilight foreground and reduce sky brightness.
2) Contrast +11, brightness -3.
3) Resized to 600px
4) Unsharpen mask (200, 0.2, 1).
5) Added frame and saved for Web.

I did this WS using Photoshop:

1) Set black point in Levels to 18, Gamma to 0.95, a little bit toned.
2) Contrast +20.
3) Fixed perspective and crop a bit. I know that the right storm-shutter is cropped, but original shot is very tight cropped from right :-(.
4) Decreased size to add frame. Overal length should be less than 800px.
5) Added unsharpen mask (116, 0.4, 1)
6) Added frame and saved for web.

In Photoshop 8.0 CS:

1) Shadow/highlight.
2) Levels: fixed black point. Removed yellow cast.
3) Added little saturation for blue.
4) Selective colors: fixed more yellow cast, increased Cyans and Blues.
5) Contrast +7
6) Used Unsharpen Mask (79, 0.2, 1).
