- I am an avid traveller who never forgets to pack a camera.
My images fall into three categories:-
Firstly there are those from my travels in the early 1970s when my passion for travel began. Unfortunately due to the cost of film and the restricted space in my backpack I took very few photos from this time. Also these earlier images were not taken with high-quality film - mostly with a Minolta instamatic camera. In the intervening years, although my slides were highly valued as evidence of my adventurous 20s, they were not stored in ideal conditions and so they deteriorated badly. I have now scanned them using a Nikon Super Coolscan 5000 and am posting those I consider the best. These photos can all be viewed in my travelogue My Travels in the 1970s
Then I am sharing some of my recent images taken since 2004 when after a few decades of hibernating I began venturing overseas again - the first were taken with various Fuji compact cameras and the later with a Nikon D80.
Thirdly scattered amongst my postings are images from my adopted home country Australia.
I am very aware that the title of this website is 'learning about the world through photography' and so I try to insure that every photo I post includes features so that you can hopefully learn something about the destinations of this world which I have visited. In turn I enjoy learning more about the world through your photos - although it will never replace actually experiencing the locations in person. - Member Since
