| Présentation: | Hello, my name is Stefano, I am a physicist and I live in Bologna, Italy. I started taking photographs when I was thirteen, when my father bought a Reflex (an old but still working Miranda Sensorex II). Then I changed cameras, bought new lenses, but my passion for photography never ended. I moved from B&W to color slides (I have tons and I bring some of them to the lab to be scanned, from time to time), and in april 2007 I bought my first digital camera, a Nikon D80. I think TE is an excellent opportunity to improve technique, and to be inspired by new ideas, as excellent pictures taken by other people around the world are posted every day. Then I think one needs to take LOTS of pictures, and also buy a HUGE bin to discard almost all of them. This, I think, is the secret to improve and become a good photographer. I think that a good picture has to pick up the interesting spot among all the things that we usually see around. Sometimes great pictures are hidden among normal things, and the good photographer has to be able to spot them. TE is a great opportunity to share opinions between different photographers. So I'll be glad, of course, if you tell me that you like my pictures, but I am also very interested in your critics, or by the absence of critics, which somehow means that people did not find that picture interesting enough. I think that a major step to improve in photography is to learn to be very critic with our own pictures. The photos I'll post here, I like them, more or less. They will be my personal selection of what I consider my "best of...". So, if you don't like them, it will be very important to me if you tell me, and also if you tell me WHY you don't like them. Last but not least. I think post-production is an important tool, and I disagree with people saying that it is making fake images. I think that a raw digital image cannot compete at all with a good color slide. No chance ! So post production is just a part of digital photography. On the other hand the developing phase and the choice of the film and the paper was a part of pre-digital photography. Post production is just easier, but it is a fundamental part of digital photography. | |
