| Présentation: | OK. Been taking photographs for some years now. I find this site to be very useful. I admit, I don't critique that often and I'm not a regular poster....something that I keep promoising myself to sort out, but never do! I think that I've learnt more through reading critiques, looking at others' workshops, and just gazing at other members photos and notes. One of the things I've learnt from here is to try and include a 'human element' in the photo. Before that I was just into buildings, but now it's buildings and people...although sometimes it's just a building. My biggest upgrade to my photography recently was the purchase of a Nikon D200, and figuring out how the hell to use it! God bless Ken Rockwell for all his wisdom and humour. When I critique I try to give an honest answer. If I like it then I'll say why. If I don't then I'll say why as well. Sometimes I can be seen as too harsh, but don't worry, I'm not intentionally being rude! I had an art background where you're basically taught to critique heavily (or at least from my college). Regarding my own photos, I think that I hold a tight 'court' when it comes to judging my own. I'll often spend a day shooting and only save 2 or 3. A recent example of this was my trip to Myanmar and Thailand. I saved maybe 300 images which i thought were good. I've whittled them down to 40, and out of those they are 10 that I would call spectacular. Enough reading....get outta here and take some shots! |
