August 2009 – and time for an update of the profile, methinks!
Photography has now become a primary interest for me, to the point where my head is full of aperture, ISO and shutter speed settings – sometimes to the point where I’m thinking ‘too much knowledge is a dangerous thing’!
DPReview.com probably receives more hits from me than Muhammad Ali inflicted on his opponents, and more than a dozen sites like TE are in my browser ‘Favorites’ list: photographic equipment litters the house, and image editing software (and actual image files!) have consumed my PC’s resources almost to extinction.
In this era of the Global Financial Crisis, I am a lost cause and a hopeless case, blissfully unaware of the insanity surrounding me in ‘the artificial world’, and focused only on the REAL world, as I stand or sit behind my viewfinder and computer screen: I think I might actually be in my version of heaven!
I now have to learn to resist the temptation to buy the latest in camera gear, pick a classic and enduring camera body and system, with all the essential features for good shot-making, acquire a bunch of top-shelf lenses covering a wide focal length – and just get ‘out there’ and shoot!!
Great landscapes will always be my first love – and for me, living in Perth, Western Australia, that means TRAVEL! Which also means $$$$$ - and lots of them, so my 2nd interest may well become robbing banks!
I have made some good friends on TE, and look forward to those friendships continuing and many more developing. If any TE member is visiting Perth or Western Australia at any time, and would like to ‘catch up’ or just get some information about my home town and state, please feel free to drop me an email, and we’ll take it from there.
