Hi, Bob - I took a whole series of shots of this sunrise, and the ones where the EV was "only" -2/3 look washed out. (This one was EV -1.) So I think as a short cut rule the suggestion to underexpose still applies. I am still learning to use histograms, but I'll keep your point in mind. (Also, the D80 is now a full generation behind - "generation" defined as a year or so - in sensor technology. I'd love to upgrade to a D90, nut not in this economic climate.)
