Thank you for the correction, my bad. The selection of trees in Finnish forests depends on how north you are. There are roughly six forest types that have different kind of undergrowth and trees mainly due to the climate and land type (moisture). The evergreens are Norway spruce, Scots pine, and common juniper. Birches (silver, white and dwarf) are the most common deciduous trees in forests in addition to aspen, alder, rowan, willow, and hagberry. Norway maple, small-leaved lime, English oak, ash, Scots and fluttering elm, and common hazel only thrive in the southern part of the country.

The most "dangerous" animals we have here are brown bear (800-900), Eurasian lynx (900-950), grey wolf (150) and wolverine (120). I've never seen any of them outside the zoo and it has been a long time since they have been harmful to humans, but still they are sure to hit the newspaper headlines if somebody's dog starts acting in a funny way ("I bet there was a BEAR!!!"). Besides, it is common that people can't distinguish a big dog from a wolf nowadays.
