Yes, swimming was quite possible at this beach. The water was shallow and there were sandbanks or reefs further out protecting the shore. On the other side of la Digue swimming was not possible. But the beaches were maybe even more spectacular... And almost completely deserted! It's quite a wonderful thing to have a paradise beach of 500m or so all to yourself! Not that la Digue was crowded in any way. On the stretch of beach (several hundred meters of sandy beach and beautiful boulders) ending here there were maybe 30-50 people or so...
