| Check it out on Wikipedia.com It's an old Irish festival going back many years. It is popular in England and USA. We celebrate it on October 31st by dressing in fancy dress costumes as ghosts, witches or characters from horror films. There are parties, or some people go around their village knocking on doors and saying, "trick or treat?". Usually, they receive sweets and candy (a "treat"), sometimes they'll be "tricked" as well (sprayed with water, or scared). However, this is more of a USA tradition. People hollow out pumpkins and cut scary faces into them and place a candle inside ( search: Jack O'Lantern). Hope this helps - and ... Happy Halloween!!! Sincerely, Tim |
