...Long ago, in IX century, first people from Ancient Rus came on the shores of Volga River. Princes of Rus founded there cities, build churches and mighty fortresses. Now these cities and small towns shows a lot of antiquities and very Old-Russian-style buildings; Yaroslavl, Rostov, Kostroma and Uglich are quite interesting towns to visit.

...As opposed to the Golden one. Golden Ring is a ancient towns in the heart of Russia, but Silver Ring is unofficial name for the no less ancient cities and fortresses in Russian North-West.
Main points here is Novgorod, Pskov and Old Ladoga.

Golden Ring is a chain of ancient Russian cities in the center of Russia. It's a popular touristy destination, and quite interesting places are included in the Ring. Such towns as Vladimir, Yaroslavl, Yuriev-Polsky, Rostov the Great and, surely, lovely town of Suzdal are worth a look. In my own humble opinion.

And surely one of the first Russian cities, Staraya Ladoga - means Old Ladoga. It's really a very old place, its 1250 years old. I like the place and want to share it.

Well, it's a totally military theme, ha-ha. Heavy guns were a marvels of technology, and must be treated as such now, as they are not in much use anymore... At least in Europe, let's hope.

It's a theme about nature of biggest country in the world, about deep forests and small clean lakes, and long rivers with high banks. No real mountains on the Russian Plain, it's no Siberia, but still lot of untouched and nice landscapes here. Actually, more than anywhere, save wild Eastern parts of the country, Siberia and Far East, where it's hard to find a human for hundreds of miles.

Theme about far and deep parts of Russia, not boiling with money and crouds Moscow, not elegant and touristic Saint-Petersburg, but about small towns and slow quiet life.

This theme is about ancient Russia, from early to high Medieval Ages, shows churches, fortresses and other objects made earlier than the end of XIV century.

It's all about ancient walls and towers, that guarded inhabitants of Northern countries from invaders... Of all kinds. North here is Scandinavia and North-West of Russia, or in other words, Ingermanlandia.
