Southern Poland, May 2016 by Mariusz Kamionka (39937) 2016-05-03 - 2016-05-14
I am living away from my country for about 20 years now so each visit to Poland is practically a trip abroad. In addition to visiting family I always try to plan some sightseeing. This time my trip to Poland was exceptionally fruiful. I have covered multiple locations along the whole length of the southern border from Walbrzych to Przemysl.
I have visited four picturesque castles:
and three UNESCO World Heritage Sites:
1. Centennial Hall in Wroclaw
2. Church of Peace in Swidnica
3. Salt Mine in Wieliczka. (12 photos)

Jizera Mountains by Waldemar Fit (501) 2007-08-23 - 2007-08-23
The Jizera or Izera Mountains are part of the Western Sudetes on the border between the Czech Republic and Poland.
The weather conditions are characterized by above-average annual precipitation. On 30 July 1897, the measuring station at Nová Louka recorded a daily precipitation amounting to 345.1 mm (13.6 inches), still an unbroken European record. The Jizera Mountains are an attractive location for winter sports, cycling and hiking. (7 photos)
Bialowieza by Maciej Kowalski (173) 2008-09-05 - 2008-09-07
Bialowieza is a small village in the Eastern part of Poland, very close to the border with Bielarus.
I spent there only 3 days but it was a very exciting weekend. And, I have to admit, 3 days are not enough to see all the interesting places...
My travelogue is a good place to say something about people who live in this part of Poland. I was suprised that they are completely diffrent than, for example, people I meet everyday in Warsaw. First of all, they are much more friendly. Then, they have always a lot of stories to tell. ... (full story) (6 photos)
