Photographer’s Note

Sans électricité, on perd tous ses repères.
On ne sait plus comment fonctionne la nuit.
On oublie le monde moderne et la futilité.
On a plus rien à faire.
On devient désoeuvré.
Alors, on place des lampes qui se consument.
Elles deviennent des points de rencontre.
On parle aux voisins. On devine des sourires.
la vie reprend.

Without electricity, one loses all his reference marks.
One does not know any more how the night functions. One forgets the modern world and futility.
There is more nothing to do.
One becomes idle.
Then, one places lamps whith petrol.
They become points of meeting.
One speaks to the neighbors.
Smiles are guessed.
the life begins again.

C'est vrai ça, la lumière des flammes revele des visages sans artifices et les liens qui se créent alors spontanément de façon désinteressée respirent une sincérité devenue rare dans notre civilisation consommatrice, alors cette fille a la lueur de la lanterne devient sympathique, le flou nous prouve qu'elle ne cherche pas à etre parfaite mais juste elle même, ça donne envie de faire connaissance et de pouvoir partager cette bonne humeur et tans pis pour la fée electricité!

Un beau visage modelè par la lumière de la lampe et qui disparait dans l'ombre. Une belle image même si elle manque un peu de netteté.
Ta note me rapelle mon enfance, pas de télé, pas d'ordinateur, pas de télephone portable, alors l'été dans le midi, le soir, on "descendait les chaises", pour "profiter de la fraicheu" les parents papotaient et les enfants jouaient, la rue leur appartenait...

Hi bertrand,
i going to go against the grain, i find the sharpnest of the hurricane light in he foreground too strong, the ghosting caused by both the hand and the head movement almost distracting.
i do like the relaxed smile on the girls face along with her general dameanour. as you know your photo the light is one of my favourites and is recored as so, so i hope you take this as constructive. chris

The lamp here gives a very special light to this model, the treatment of the light somehow resembles Rembrandt, where shadows become an equal part of the art!

J'aime beaucoup ton POV qui laisse éclater la radieuse beauté de la jeune femme. Sensuelle et pleine de gaieté; c'est, à mon sens, elle, le véritable "phare" de cette photo! La douceur des couleurs s'allie à celle des courbes, pour une image débordant de joyeuse intimité... Fabuleux!

Les coupures d'électricité, ça arrive souvent par chez nous...surtout en période de mousson.
Une bonne idée que d'avoir profité de ce moment d'obscurité et d'avoir utilisé la lampe à kérosène, diffusant ainsi de jolies ombres et lumières.
J'aime l'expression amusée de la jeune femme.

Intéressante image de cette femme issue de la chaleur de la nuit.
Je ne décèle pas de grain; c'est juste une histoire de mise au point avec une petite PDC dûe à une grande ouverture de diaph.
Mais les chaudes couleurs sont très appréciables.
