Photographer’s Note

The evening at the edge of the lake Hoan Kiem, the old poeple seek freshness. The atmosphere is heavy in the city and the lakes are islands of coolness.

Then, they are found to kill time.
They forget a little the concert of the horns.
They look at the small island of the tortoise and its legend.
They remake the world

Le soir au bord du lac Hoan Kiem, les vieux cherchent la fraicheur. L'atmosphère est lourde dans la ville et les lacs sont des îlots de fraicheurs.
Alors, ils se retrouvent pour tuer le temps.
Ils oublient un peu le concert des klaxons.
Ils regardent l'îlot de la tortue et sa légende.
Ils refont le monde.

Chouette prise, avec un très bon pdv et cadrage tip-top.
Pas facile avec ce 1er plan foncé et ce fond très lumineux, tu t'en tires bien, joli.

Hanoi, la belle Hanoi....toutes les classes sociales du Vietnam se rassemblent et se melangent autour de ce ce lac de l'epee restituee...j'adore cette place, je me demande combien de fois j'ai pu y faire le tour ;o)...
Une belle scene de la vie quotidiene, un symbole...

Your note is very very good.
I like this composition and the way these two people are facing the water. The tree gives a sense of secrecy almost a little hidden peace.
The refelctions on the water are good. But the importtant thing is them making their lives beautiful by re making the world.

Hi Bertrand. This type of shot is tough to do but I'd say you did a good job. I'd suggest dropping the brightness of the highlights a fair bit to balance out the exposure some. I do like the note. Well done Bertrand.

There is a nice mood in this scene, with a little melancoly added, which I think comes from your own way to look at it, both in thought and frame handling. because of this and the light balance, this one would be nice as B&W.

cette image reflète bien l'ambiance que l'on trouve aautour de ce lac paisible. Nous en avons fait le tour plusieurs fois et c'est toujours agréable.
jolie scène avec ces 2 dames typiques.

Thet do seem to be very deep in conversation..I like the way you have taken this shot with a lot of details in front which gives a beautiful view of the surroundings. A perfect place to sit and while away one's time without a care in the world.

Hi Bertrand - very nice one, I like the tree branches touching the water, and the island temple in the back, great catch of a moment in conversation. I have a nearly identical shot from last November, it could even be the same woman really, and same pose :-))

Hi Bertrand. I was about to post a similar shot last weekend, when I noticed your photograph of Hoan Kiem Lake come up in the Gallery. So I held off posting mine until this weekend - so not to bore other members ;) - but went ahead and posted mine today because it was taken in very different lighting conditions to yours and it is interesting to see the difference in colour in the pagoda in the middle of the lake. I would have been standing on the other side of the tree from which you took your shot - I wonder if the locals get bored with all the foreign photographers taking pictures of their backs! Bonsoir Bertrand (a Tokyo c'est le soir deja).
Superbe cliche que je viens de decouvrir - c'est tout d'abord tellement hanoi tel que je le connais et l'aime, et puis la facon dont tu as situe les "acteurs", et pour finir cetexte d'un lyrisme et d'une profondeur rares.
Bravo, cher ami. Du tres beau travail.

Bonjour Bertrand. Grace a cet image je me souviens de mon sojourn a Vietnam et a Hoan Kiem. C'est vrais qu'au bord du lac on oublie le monde quotidien. Un tres aimable image. Amicalement. Klaudio.
