Antarctic sunrise Photo

Photographer’s Note

This kind of clouds Altocumulus lenticularis are very typical on King George Island. This is an orographic cloud. That means that forming of this cloud start over the mounains. Aspecially wind crossing our Island starts forming Altocumulus lenticularis. This clouds looks especially splendid during sunset or sunrise. This photo was executed at 10:40 during sunrise, antarctic winter. Black outline is Polish Antarctic Station 'Arctowski' lighthouse.

About your photo, it is really great with this fabulous cloud enlightened by one of the best light the sun can give. Your composition includind the station and its light is perfect.

Kolejne fantastyczne ujecie z King George. Promienie Słonca przechodzace pod wieczor pod niewielkim katem 'prawie poziomo' bardzo efektownie podswietlaja chmury. Po raz kolejny udalo Ci sie uchwycic ten moment, gratulacje...

No coz, ja sie do superlatyw nie dolacze. Ale po to chyba zdjecia wystawiasz, by dowiedziec sie co sie w nich odbiorcom podoba a co ich razi.

A zatem. W moim odczuciu kadr jest za ciemny. Gdyby chodziło o podkreślenie sylwetki na tle rozpalonych chmur zrozumialbym. Tutaj jednak slabo przezierajace detale skal zanadto odwracaja uwage od reszty. Podobnie rozjasnienie w dolmej partii zdjecia, na kontakcie z ramka odciaga wzrok od tematu. Co wiecej calosc sprawia nieco wyblakle wrazenie. Kolory, w moim odczuciu sa niespecjalnie ciekawe. Kadr, wybacz, jest banalny. Podsumowujac, zdjecie uwazam za przecietne.

Pozdrawiam i z niecierpliwoscia czekam na kolejne pocztowki z Antarktyki

How brilliant to sit here in Singapore and see these images taken in Antarctica and be able to write to and tell you how much I like them. Normally I don't like Sunrise/sunset photos and don't openthem as they are too cliche. I waive that for those taken at the bottom of the World.
