Photographer’s Note

Sous la tente des Berbères,
les femmes parlent et commercent.
Elles sont joyeuses et bruyantes.
Elles vendent leurs bijoux pour se distraire.
Alors les enfants sont tenus à l'écart.
Le bébé solitaire trouve refuge dans les bras de son frère. C'est rassurant et c'est un bon observatoire.

Nous sommes dans le désert du Sud Mauritanien.
Les populations arabo-berbères, pourtant sédentarisées, ont abandonné leurs maisons habituelles envahies de moustiques, pour se réfugier dans le désert. Sous la tente, ils retrouvent leur culture ancestrale.

Under the tent of Berber, the women speak and trade. They are merry and noisy. They sell their jewels to be distracted.
Then the children are kept away.
The solitary baby finds refuge in the arms of his brother. It is reassuring and it is a good observatory.

We are in the desert of the South Mauritanian.
The arabo-Berber populations, however sedentarized, gave up their invaded usual houses of mosquitos, to take refuge in the desert.
Under the tent, they find their ancestral culture.

Salut Betrand,
Ces yeux ! Parfaitement pris dans une composition où ces deux enfants sont placés dans une position peu habituelle pour un portrait, cela donne un effet de spontanéité bien vu. Beau décor coloré en fond.

nice picture of the little boy in the arm of his older brother. They seem very close to each other. The little boy has so beautiful big eyes. Beautiful and touching how he looks to you.

Is fantastic the moment that you captured: that little kid is looking to us and the eyes of the kid are really expressive.
Also is nice the moment captured: the old brother has between his arms to his little brother.

Hi Bertrand,

good photography is close photography, it means the photographer had the guts to get up to his subjects, face them and their situation and become part of it for atleast a moment. You did that and were rewarded with a beautiful glance and an intimate moment.

Bonjour, Bertrand. Ton cadrage en contre-plongée nous permet de voir les jolies couleurs de la tente. Elles servent de très bel arrière-plan aux visages des deux jeunes berbères. Le plus âgé semble se détourner de l'appareil, par contre, le plus jeune fixe l'objectif avec ses grands yeux qui absorbent toute notre attention. Le blanc du vêtement fait très bein ressortir toutes les couleurs.

Another beautiful portrait where the kids eyes and expression really dominates the photo, which is very well composed with the clothes and top of the photo colours adding a nice coloured touch.

J'aime beaucoup le contraste face / profil dans ce double portrait. Le petit garçon aurait peut être besoin d'un coup de gant de toilette mais l'eau est rare dans le désert... Et en plus il a des yeux qui lui mangent la moitié du visage. La posture est naturelle, la photo nette où il le faut, un peu plus atténué sur le visage du grand frère. Trés réussi.
