Photographer’s Note

Taxicabs of Hong Kong form one of the most efficient and convenient taxi systems among major metropolitan areas in the world.

The service was founded in 1947 with 329 cars. By 1960 the service increased to 1,026 cars. The number of taxis would multiply to 10,000 by 1980 and today, they are around 20, 000 including New Territories and Lantau Island. Every day they serve about 1.1 million, 207,900 and 1,400 people respectively.

There are three types of taxis in Hong Kong, namely, urban taxis (red), New Territories taxis (green), and Lantau taxis (blue).

I love it :) Great bokeh and colours. I love pictures of such small details but what I love most is that it's a part of a bigger series.

Ah te revoila apres qq jours off avec un beau morceau d'Inasiajonesade typique, c'est ces photos qui t'ont rendu celebre sur TE et c'est probablement sur une photo de ce type que j'ai ecrit ma premiere c.. euh je veux dire ma premiere analyse pour toi !
On retrouve toutes les qualites de ce type de photo, l'utilisation d'un caillou approprie, la large ouverture, la bonne mise au point et le bokeh festif a souhait avec les lumieres de la ville, que du bon, 谢谢 !

This is an eyecandy for sure.
So we have to use f/2.8 and 1/200 if we want to get this cinematographic effect! I mean, this one really looks like taken from a movie as i am familiar with this kind of backgrounds from movies. Excellent graphics and colors are beautiful. TFS.

Okay, the photo. The bokeh created by the 70-200 is wonderful, and all those colours in the back give it a kind of christmas feeling. Very clever idea to create this and the execution is really perfect.

C'est sympa de te retrouver sur TE après tes quelques jours d'absence (pas la peine de m'expliquer, j'ai lu ton échange de message avec Pixel).
Je vois que tu as continué ta collection d'enseigne de taxis, toujours dans la même lignée avec ces fonds colorés qui donnent l'impression que tu vas trouver ces véhicules dans les night-clubs de la ville. J'adore!

toi, c'est devenu un réflexe j'imagine de regarder les taxi tout le temps...Nous, les communs des mortels, on les remarque même pas. Mais une fois présenté comme ça, il y a ce quelquechose d'infiniment intéressant. Des détails comme le plastique brûlé à force d'être tout le temps allumé, les écritures "asiatiques", la réflexion parfaite sur la voiture, le fond tellement coloré. Vraiment superbe! Très différent de celui de Tokyo...un petit peu plus canadien...

Je reviens sur cet objectif...incroyable quand même! Peu de lumière, à 150mm...pas de problème, on ouvre ça à f/2,8 et on peu y aller à 1/200 de seconde...pas besoin de tripod. Et quelle profondeur de champ ça donne quand même.

J'ai fait la mémère et j'ai lu ta conversation avec JY...oui, beaucoup de frustration proviennent du site...mais tellement d'agréments à la fois. Je suis toujours sur des mac et malheureusement je dois dire que je n'ai pas ce genre de problème...En fait, oui, parfois le site est atrocement lent, genre au neutre, pas au ralenti. Mais quand ça repart, c'est ok. Mais je dois dire que moi aussi je participe de moins en moins...moi c'est moins le site que certains utilisateurs du site...j'ai participé au même forum que toi sur la critique(et ça a viré aux points assez vite). Je ne peux pas croire que ce qui a été dit dans ce thread.

Great colors, and the clear part is so sharp and vivid, I feel I can almost touch the sign, plus the reflection, very interesting part taken from the daily life. The background is awesome.

Bonjour, µandré. L'arrière-plan aux multiples couleurs met très bein en valeur la lampe du taxi. Le bokeh est très réussi. Les contrastes entre les différents plans ainsi que le reflet contribuent à la mise en valeur du sujet principal.

I've seen similar shots before, but you've taken this one beautifully. Good tight composition and the colourful defocused background adds to the impact.
My only criticism is that I'd have preferred a bit more space between the reflection and the bottom edge of the frame, but other than that this is an excellent piece of work.

Taxi 5...ils n'arreteront donc jamais la serie...je suppose que tu connais le film ;o) mais ta suite est largement mieux reussi que ces navets comiques...au fait t'as vu le WS sur ton image "Where Rivers Reverse" ?

J'adore le graphisme et la créativité de cette image. L'enseigne est si net et tu as réussi à cadrer le reflet. Le fond est géneal et les couleurs sont superbes.

An interesting and different image, the light and the colour are the protagonists in this work, an unusual perspective but with very creative result, excellent control of the depth out focus.
