Tsukiji Fish Market

As I was wandering around this impressive fish market, which handles more than 400 different types of seafood from tiny sardines to 300kg tuna, I was fascinated by this man, with the stoutness and the attitude of a sailor. He was very bold and heavy chain smoker, but became delicate and meticulous when he sliced his fish.

I wanted to photograph the different process of what happens to a tuna, from whole fish to sushi pieces. But at the moment he inclined his head, its headband gave me the impression that he had lost his head, just like its fish.

Bien vu, Andre, un peu macabre comme humour mais tres juste. Vraiment bravo ta double decapitation ici et compose avec grand sin aussi.
Ca marche pour moi!

It's an interesting shot of a man at work, and I also like the way his headband gives the impression of two headless creatures rather than one!
I think for the shot to be a complete success, you needed to shift the framing slightly to the left, cutting down on the space next to the fish and most importantly leaving a gap between the man's upper arm and the edge of the frame.
Other than that, it works well.

Spooky! :) He really seems headless... A nice complement to that headless bloody fish. Colors are so good and the reflections all around really lend a fleshly mood to the entire scene. Great quality picture.

Quel coup d'oeil André ! J'adore ce bonhomme sans tête en plein boulot. Est ce ce boulot qui lui a fait perdre la tête ? Moi ce serait plutôt la gente féminine ! LOL

Celle-ci sort d'un film d'horreur, tellement que je t'ai fait un ws. La nettété sur le sujet est superbe entre le flou des premier et arrière plan.

P.S. Fiston s'est achété un Transformer mais il est trop jeune pour voir le film. Au magasin, il y avait même un Transformer que se transforme en appareil photo.

Ah c'est vraiment horrible cette scène et je ne parle même pas du WS gore de Nikki! ;o)
Il fallait avoir un sacré coup d'oeil pour voir cet homme décapité dépeçant son poisson. En plus, la gestion de la lumière est parfaite ainsi que la PDC qui met en valeur le sujet par rapport à tous les autres éléments de la scène. Vraiment extra!

Super, le titre! Très bon coup d'oeil (peut-être un peu aidé par la chance?)qui donne cette image très humoristique....avec un petit côté révolution française....c'est la bonne période....

LOL cet angle dechire bien il faut dire, et avec la version gore D-lightee par Nikki ca n'en est que plus fun, a regarder de preference le soir quand les enfants sont couches !
Bon sinon je taillerais bien un peu de maguro moi...

I remeber recommending you to watch "In the Mood for Love" but i guess you went to the DVD store in order to purchase the last bloody marvel of Mr. Tarantino.
Gruesome idea that the man is slicing his own head, yet this one is a GREAT photo. One of the most creative and well caught image i've recently seen in TE. And what if we could not see his nose and his cheeks (that gives an illusion that he is smiling for the joke of the idea)? Then this would be a perfect photo.

SAlut André,
juste une coupe de degrées et tu lui perdais la tête complètement!! Il faudrait que tu mesure 6pieds et demi comme moi:D Mais tu aurais perdu ton avant-plan, alors c'est lui qui aurais dû se pencher complètement. Tout est comme un peu humide dans la photo, ça aide à la rendre odorante si tu vois ce que je veux dire.
En tant qu'étudiant attentif, j'ai des questions sur la compo. Le bras droit coupé, c'esst normal? La serviette en haut à droite, c'est pour balancer la compo?
Il lui manque un paquete de clopes sur l'épaule...
Tu repars en voyage chanceux? Et de belles destinations! Munich à l'automne, Cinque Terre et la Toscane au temps des récoltes, Martigny(va voir Verbier), etc...je t'envie très sérieusement!! En plus, c'est pour le travail si je ne me trompe pas...ah oui, je suis envieux!!! Bâle? pour moi c'est un peu comme Stuttgart;)Mais Berne c'est très cool!!Les jeux d'échecs géants dans les parcs et dans la place publique(je ne me souviens plus du nom...).

I'm was almost scared to look at the workshop - and rightly so I see!!!

Great catch here. It always amazes me how you can take a normal everyday type photo that most people would make look like crap, including myself, and turn it into a work of art. The colors and tones are excellent. The composition is great, except for the cut off elbow, and the workshop is well done.
