Photographer’s Note
Every Sunday, on the bridge over the railway tracks at Harajuku Station, you can see the weirdest and funniest circus of all.
Teenage girls from Tokyo suburbs gather together for the fun of dressing up in bold outfits inspired by mangas, victorian dolls and gothic characters. This subculture comes with an attitude, sometimes eager to be photographed and at other times, furious if you aim your lens in their direction...
It’s now an unofficial attraction of Tokyo, as each weekend hordes of excited photographers, bewildered tourists and locals visit to catch the show.
More Coz-Play-Zoku, here, here and here.
P.S.: After receiving comments on previous post, please note that they all wear colours lenses, so that's why they have "strange" looking eyes.

Hello André,
Quelles couleurs !

Bravo

Hi Andre,
She looks so innocent, bit shy, but i think all Japanese look like that. Her face is beautiful, just as the glimpse of her eyes looking at you. The pose with her hand is a nice touch, just as for the detail her green finger nails in combination with her green hair.
An oldie form 2005, but even there you used already 4.5...or was that luck? ;-)
Whatever, the focus and composition is very well done...
Take care...hope a job is on the way for you,
Henk

Ciao André, the motorbike spinner of Karlskirche :))
So, this cartoonie girlie should be one of your admirers (or penny givers?) in Tokyo. Did you also spin around her? She may have thought that you admired her unique beauty, so she threw you a hot gaze :) Pheww...
One day i will be so free that i will dye my hair like this and stand in front of my boss saying "fire me or turn out my fire"...
That will be my ending day for sure...
All the best,
Deniz

Man, this really looks a XVIII Century rave. I am imagining Mozart playing the electric fiddle! :))) I like the whiteness of her and the whiteness of your photo. What a treat! :)

Hello Andre
I was a bit on the verge of calling you shallow when you called this girl "wierd", but then again she really is something out of the ordinary...so I'll take it back...
I simply love the approach and composition to this photo as it shows of the extremes of Japanese youth culture in a very soft way.
The lighting is excellent for this scene as it gives more focus on the parts that matter, namely her face the very striking green hair!
Absolutely a magnificent portrait!
