The Carnival is a party whose origins are ancient. To our days it is the happy party that is celebrated, in the Catholic tradition, before the beginning of the Lent. Etymologically, the word carnival derives from the Latin "carnem to raise", popularly translated "it meat-is worth" or "carnasciale", because anciently it pointed out the banquet of abolition of the meat that immediately was held before the period of abstinence and fast of the Lent. The Carnival represents for a long time a party of the people.
It is a moment in which every hierarchy decays for leaving space to the masks, to the smile, to the joke. The same to disguise a way is represented through which to go out of the daily paper, to fall to pieces himself some his own social role, to deny itself same to become other. The carnival in Venice is one of the most known and appreciated carnivals of the world. It has very ancient origins: the first testimony of the carnival goes up again to a 1094 Doge document in which the word is quoted for the first time.
