Workshop Note

I love the colours on the original photo especially the red of the chillies and the girl's dress. I wondered what the photo would look like if I desaturated the colours to give a sepia effect to the photo but kept the red dress and the red chillies looking vibrant to really bring more emphasis to their colour.

I duplicated the layer three times so I had the photo on fours layers. The bottom layer I kept as the original. The 2nd layer I saturated / colorized to give a sepia effect but with a slightly redder hue. The 3rd layer I kept as the original but decreased opacity to 20% and applied 'overlay' to the layer. The top area I erased everything but the red areas and decreased opacity to 60% and applied 'hard light' to the layer. This brought the red areas to life but I thought at this stage that the skin of the girl looked a little grey so I erased the skin areas on the 2nd layer (sepia layer) with the eraser set at 50% so that the colour shone through a little more from the bottom layer. And that's it! I hope you like the result?
