Le PONT Saint Etienne XIIIe siècle.
C'est un pont à avant-becs. Il marquait la fin du flottage du bois venu des montagnes, et retenu à cet endroit. C'était un pont très animé, placé en contrebas de la ville commerçante et entouré rive droite du quartier des lavandières, et rive gauche du quartier des auberges et tavernes et autres estaminets, et d'où partaient les routes de Toulouse et Clermont-Ferrand.
