    Hello Kasia,
You are excused for mixing up two Asian mountain ranges, but I can't excuse myself for not thinking of it. I'm getting weak in my head. :-(

There's no northern light here, but it is almost as spectacular as Abisko.;-) I was equally overwhelmed by the bright stars I saw from a truck in the middle of the Sahara. They were probably the same... I just didn't have that silhouette of Hindu Kush next to me.
It's a wonderful photo, perfectly exposed as always.

Thank you for your kind comments today, and for the fav the other day.
    Have a nice Sunday,
    Gert

    Hello Jean,
It may be nothing special as a photo, but these dresses are really marvellous and colourful and quite special. I object more to the sterile urban environment, but what could you do? If those ladies had noticed you they would have agreed that they deserved to be seen on TE anyway.

    Hello Loong,
Three good photos again. B&W was a very suitable choice for the main photo, but the WS in colours is a perfect postcard kind of photo. You shouldn't worry about a certain lack of sharpness in the other WS. Looking at the small version of the photo I didn't notice anything. Only seeing an enlarged view I admitted that, okay, it's not totally perfectly sharp. But what a beautiful bird. It was worth being shown anyway.

It's a fine nighttime photo of the church by the water. There is a exciting atmosphere, even though the bright areas are slightly overexposed.

    Hello Silvio,
This is another beautiful Romanesque church with very elegant arches and columns. I like the warm light surrounding the large crucifix. It serves the composition well to have two persons seated in the front benches. They help to create a good atmosphere. There is a perfect symmetry and the exposure is also perfect.

    Hello György,
Contrary to Paul I am old enough to remember those events in Hungary. ;-) There seems to be some gap between the commemorations of the heroes resisting the Soviet invasion and the present government's warm relations with a Russia where the Soviet past is more and more idealized.
But of course that doesn't concern this photo. I wonder why they look so friendly and relaxed when having a PPSh-41 aimed at them.
Thanks for your comments today. That photo was of course taken in Indonesia, not in India.;-)
    Have a nice Sunday,

    Hello Malgo,
It's a nice photo, even though it's only from a distance. I think this is actually how this castle looks the best. I think my hitchhiking friend and I got inside the ruins but the best views were from a distance. But it was a very cloudy day with a threat of rain, so my photos didn't turn out as nicely as this.
    Best regards,
    Gert
PS Yesterday I discovered the latest movie of wall paintings. Some of them were superb and ought to make it to TE.

    Hello Rob,
You refer to surrealism in the note, and that was certainly my immediate impression when seeing the thumbnail. I just can't figure out who made this painting of a town collapsing into the sea. It's a wonderful observation and very nicely handled. Attractive photos in the WS too, but this is by far the one that appeals most to my imagination.

Since muck-spreading is considered an environmental threat, this particular spreader is being used for a much better purpose. It was an amusing idea to convert it to a huge flower pot. It provided you with a very bright and nice photo.

The smaller rocks and the surrounding walls have created an attractive pattern, but the skulls and bones on top of the heap give it an absurd or surrealistic twist. It's a bit fascinating, and a good photo.

    Hello Ian,
The lost heads or faces are probably found in museums or rich person's private collections around the world. European "discoverers" had a tendency of taking what they wanted, and they have been followed in more recent times by organized gangs of plunderers. But there is enough left here to make us realize what a beautiful place this had been. I remember the museum in Da Nang as an interesting place.

    Hello John,
Two more days have gone, so here is a new photo, very punctually. The green plants on the wires, and the hedge below them, form a very good foreground to this view of the red brick church. I like the low perspective which accentuates the size of the church and also includes a good view of the cloudy but still quite bright sky. The photo has a very good clarity, well saturated colours and fine contrasts.
    Kind regards,
    Gert

    Hello Malgo,
It's an impressive building, looking more like a palace than any of the university institutions in Göteborg where I was to start my higher studies soon after visiting Belfast in 1968. But the Arcadia looked cosier. ;-) Nice photo with the inclusion of the fine lawn.
