Crop for central element

I really like the track in the foreground of this photo, but I keep thinking it is just a little blah. I posted hoping for some suggestions. I went back and tried cropping tight, inside the warning lights, on the bridge. To my eye the shimmer just made everything unrecognizable. Cropping up to the lights seemed to create too much tension.
I will keep the idea in mind while I look for more scenes though.

try portrait orientation crop, the right and especialy the left portions are completely reduntant

In your portrait crop, lose one of the barriers (either the left one or the right one). It seems to make the shot stronger.
