Hi, Fanni.
I've been designing websites myself and I know for a fact that functionality is ALWAYS the key! The looks -important as they are- come second. You got to be able to move and move fast from one section into another in a straight line, period. Now, let's see what we got here... we got a site that looks like crap and works like crap. Designed to accomodate as many ADS as possible, that's the whole idea behind it! I'd gladly pay a fee to have everything reversed to what it was. Never had a problem and felt absolutely comfortable with the old version.

Fulvio.

I want the old TrekEarth back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The new one is slow and I' m extremely disappointed that I no longer can see how many points a photo has from the general overview.
Is there any chance that the old TE could be restored?
Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Everything was so clear in the old one...
The new one really sucks.

Hi Kristaps,
yes, you are right: CTRL + mouse scroll does change the scale - and the size of the font. I know it... But it also changes the size of all the pictures/photos on the page!! which is not good at all! What about those members who have small monitors?? like 1024x780??

At least on Firefox under the view menu drop-down there is a zoom option "zoom only text", which leaves all the graphical elements (including photos) unchanged. I am not sure if there is such an option for Internet Explorer.

Oh, yes, thanks!... right you are, Kristaps. There is such an option in FireFox (I use it along with Opera). I never use IE, though. But I have never used Zoom Text Only option. It is a way out, but, imho, a temporary one, as it is rather inconvenient, too.

The new site is terrible! Completely NOT user-friendly in any sense, much slower, and just trying to find everything is a painstaking process rather than the relaxing one it used to be. This site used to be an enjoyable place to visit--now I'm not getting any enjoyment out of it, only frustration! What was so wrong with the old site? Sure, some improvements could have been made, but this is very drastic. Also, the sense I am getting is that some of those who tried the Beta version aren't happy either! Was it not the point of the Beta trial to gauge the opinions of those who use this site frequently, and then listen to these suggestions?! This new look is a complete disaster in my opinion, and I would not be surprised if this leads to many members deciding to leave the site altogether.

I must agree and at first sight I don't like the new look either. It seems to be more complicated and not as easy to use. I find that the photos are all over the place and it doesn't look as neat as is did before. I still have to go through all of it, but this is my first impression and I am not too thrilled with it!

Greetings,
Ann :)

Hi Fulvio,
I absolutely agree with you - about navigating!
Good navigation was a very positive feature of the old version of TE as it helped to make the interaction among members fast, convenient and very useful... thus, also, often helping to see new photos and meet new members via seeing various photos of those members whom you already know, etc (I hope you get what I am trying to say!:)).

Well... about changes in general... Some members were not pleased with the colours of the old version. OK, let them change the color gamma... if it does not suit somebody (I didn't quite care about it as I came here to look at the photos, not at the colours of the site itself). By the way, in Yahoo! mailbox there is an option to change the colour scheme if the user wishes so...

Concerning paying a fee for being a TE member. I would pay. But... Maybe we should suggest this idea to the admins?... through the forum?..
but I guess the advertisement companies have already paid them much more than they could get from us members! LOL
