Great romanaa 2008-03-23 8:07

Hi Richard,
not yet, I think that it is only on the tentative list and in my opinion, there are places that should not be accepted because of moral reasons. I am not discussing the technical value of the complex, it is great, of course, but too many people payed a high cost having big health problems caused by enormous pollution produced by it.The average length of life of people working there was much shorter than of other population.
Anyway, the place is interesting and your shot has something of sad atmosphere that suits well to the place. As for me it is a rather terrific memorial of communism.
Best regards
Romana

Default To romanaa: Who built Vitkovice?

The communists may have been responsible for many crass and a damaging development in your country over the years, but in this case, it seems they just continued a trend.> Certainly I saw many example of buildings in the complex that were clearly pre-war.

About the UNESCO thing, yes sorry I'm a bit premature, but it seems to have got beyond just a proposal, and has been on the UNESCO tentative list for the last 7 years. Personally I just loved the place, but then, if you look at some of stuff, you'll see I'm a bit of nut when it comes to decaying industrial sites.
