Hello Luis,
It's a nice view through the shop window and I see that most of the items for sale have a rather personal touch. Did you know that during the 19th century and even into the 1930's there were many suggestions to pull down almost the entire Gamla Stan, leaving only the palace, the churches and a handful of other buildings? Even the famous architect Le Corbusier in the 30's dismissed Gamla Stan as worthless and wanted to design an area of large buildings surrounded by parks and lawns. Others wanted to build wide motorways across the island to connect other parts of the city.
Kind regards,
Gert

Thank you Jorge,
There are many ethnic groups living side by side in this area, so there is a great diversity of skin colours and dress-styles. The relatively light skinned Tuaregs are the dominant group. Regards, Gert |
