Hello Les,
You've written a fascinating note about this bridge which, amazingly, dates from the 13th century. I presume that nowadays it is only crossed by pedestrians though I did find this photo on Wikipedia of a locomotive crossing it at one time.
Anyway, this is a beautiful "blue hour" shot from early evening in which the mixture of natural and artificial lights is truly delightful. Your longish exposure of one second has smoothed the water nicely though not too much. I like too your strong composition with the bridge itself forming a strong diagonal across the frame and leading us to the buildings and lights of the distant part of the township.
It sounds to me that, as in my case, your tripod spends most of its time in the boot of your car, but the handy lamppost has come to the rescue here and helped you produce a lovely image with gorgeous light and colours, perfect exposure and excellent details and sharpness.

To tyro: Crossing the bridge
Hello John,
many thanks for your kind critique and the interesting link,the bridge now has a 3 Ton weight limit and is well used by both pedestrians and cars as I hope to show in a future upload. I did read somewhere that the best photographic accessory was a tripod,a view with which I tend to agree. Warm regards Les.
