Ha! Those look like Lee-Enfield rifles. Perhaps, the S.M.L.E. No.1 Mk.3 that was introduced by the British in 1907.

Hi Robert,

Yes they are the Lee Enfield rifle. Takes 7 shots in the magazine and now only for ceremonial use for parades etc in Himachal. Most of these would have their firing pins removed ( remember Anwar Sadat).

The old British armouries are full of them and the Indian Ordnance factory still makes ammunition for them!

I learnt how to shoot one when I was 12. It gives a real jolt to the shoulder!
