Photographer's Note

Today two more photos from the lively market area in Abomey, Benin, on a Sunday in late March 1982.

I have made several scans over the years of today's main photo, but the colours have always been totally wrong. I thought it was a hopeless case. Only with my latest attempt last week, without much hope of improvement, I suddenly managed to make an almost acceptable copy.

Please don't ask what kind of grain was sold here. In case I knew it then I have forgotten it long ago, and now I can't identify it. I have, as usual, no memory of taking this photo. I wonder if the two nearest persons observing me remember this moment.

The title refers of course to the sign outside a shop. I used of course a Kodachrome film, having stopped using Agfa film almost 10 years earlier.

In a WS is another market scene from the same day. As a free bonus you get a piece of a world heritage in the second WS.
