Photographer's Note
The last temple that I want to show here is Kom Ombo. Most of the ships come to Kom Ombo in the night. The temple is beautifully illuminated, so it looks beautiful and romantic but difficult to take photos of it.
so here I just preset one of the numerous reliefs that I especially liked. It depicts falcon-headed Horus and ibis-headed Thoth pouring consecration water over Neos Dionysos (Ptolemy XII), with crocodile-headed Sobek standing to the left.
Thoth, (Greek), Egyptian Djhuty, in Egyptian religion, a god of the moon, of reckoning, of learning, and of writing. He was held to be the inventor of writing, the creator of languages, the scribe, interpreter, and adviser of the gods, and the representative of the sun god, Re. His responsibility for writing was shared with the goddess Seshat. He was often depicted as a man with the head of an ibis or a baboon, animals sacred to him.
Horus, the falcon-headed god, is a familiar ancient Egyptian god. Horus is the son of Osiris and Isis, the divine child of the holy family triad.
It seems that the Pharaoh has two left hands.
In the Workshops, two views of the night in the temple.

Ciao Malgo, beautiful night photos from Kom Ombo, in fact for reasons of time of the Nile trip, here you always arrive in the evening, but the atmosphere is truly magical. I don't love black and white, but basically here it suits us because there were no colors to show with this light, 2 excellent perspectives that faithfully reproduce the dark setting of the night.Have a nice Sunday and thanks,Luciano

Hello Malgo,
The WS provide interesting complements but also show the difficulties of taking photos here, at least in the darkness. That problem doesn't affect the main photo which you wisely showed in B&W. In spite of the limited light it's very sharp and the contrasts are good, with a well captured 3D effect. It is a very beautiful relief.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Malgo,
Very impressive relief, including those carefully carved hieroglyphs. Sidelight shows shapes well. But I actually prefer the second workshop. It more than just documentary photo. Dim light creates special atmosphere.

Hi Malgo,
The point of view is showing the details of the relief of the temple. It is clear and sharp. Account of the low light did you change the photo from color to black and white ?. Have a nice day.

Hello Malgo,
Presented as colour, this could easily be monochrome, and the relief details show up very clearly in your photograph. Each part is easy to see and study, though I can't find crocodile-headed Sobek.
The ancient Egyptians were talented in so many ways. I wonder if modern architecture and art will last for over 3,000 years!
The night photos were much more difficult but certainly have an atmosphere.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Malgo,
Strange that during your cruise one of the temples was visited only at night.
I've been in Kom Ombo but I went there by local train from Aswan and then a small part by taxi. I remember there was a large group of Arab Israeli visiting. They said it was not really easy to be admitted to Egypt despite being Arab.
Do you know if there is a story attached to the two left hands? Does that have any meaning in ancient Egypt? Or is that something that was only later discovered by the archaeologists?
Anyway, a wonderful bas-relief.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Malgo
The 2 left hands is strange. Deliberate error. Showing the actual or just a straight mistake.
Excellent B&W photo with the WS photos also being interesting.

Hello Malgo
Fine artwork form the last temple in your series, worth being the final of it. Egypt is still on our list of places to visit. It tends to be overlooked by tourists/travellers, I feel.

Hi Malgo.
Magnificent composition with this detail of such a magnificent sculptural relief of the main gods, the calligraphy of the hieroglyphs completes this beautiful work in B&W very well.
Magnificent composition, excellent brightness and sharpness.
Good job. I like it.
Have a good week.
Very best regards.
Luis.

Hi Malgo,
A nice sharp photo that shows plenty of details, enhanced by the oblique light on the wall. You note that the pharaoh has two left hands, but Thoth also seems to have two left hands. I wonder if this is symbolic, or maybe the artist wasn't very good at sculpting right hands.
