Photographer's Note
this boat crosses the Gambia river and carries both people and goods. Several men meets the boat when it come back to Banjul and their job is to carry passengers on their shoulders to dry land. I felt a little bit embarrassed but acceptet their local custom:)
Believe it or not, but we were 100 people in this boat! The regular ferry had problem so we had to use this boat instead. It was like sardines in a tin box:) The boat was leaking so three men had to pour out water during the whole journey by the way..

Hej Boa,
Gert

Hello Boa - This is a fascinating shot and together with your note makes a fine TE contribution. The way you have captured the boat tilted towards your lens adds enormously to your composition and allows us a look inside the boat that carries 100 passengers! It's amazing how elegant the women look in their colourful dresses, after such a ride I would look like a crumpled rag! Super DL shot.Warm regards Rosemary

Hi Boa,
nice the snapshot with the boat to be surrounded with all these men in order to carry the passengers in their shoulders to don't wet their feet. One hundred people in this boat!!! I don't know for you but the women must enjoy their passage to the wet land on shoulders.
Regards,Danos

Hej Boa,

Superbly taken the moment, Boa.
A daily life scenery par-excellence, vibrant and vivid.
Most eye catching is the youngster stand on the upper right corner of the picture, not looking at the on-going embarkment from the boat - and on the same time keep good balance on the starboard edge.
Fine photo, well done and intriguing.
Good evening,
Ike

Hi Boa,
Firstly I like the soft light which shows up all the details nicely. An interesting daily life scene to see these men approaching the boat to carry the ladies safe and dry to the shore. Well composed and a good documentary.

Hej Boa,

Hello Boa,
I'd be a little nervous about this type of ferry, but I guess there's no choice in Gambia. :-) The men have regular t-shirts on, but the women are wearing such lovely traditional clothes. It's great to be able to view a scene like this, of daily life in a place I will probably never see in person. It must have been interesting to reach the shore on those men's shoulders!
