Photographer's Note
Banjul is the capital of The Gambia. There are ferries linking Banjul to the mainland at the other side of the river.
Banjul is rather ugly town. There is an interesting Albert Market. The women in Banjul were angry seeing that someone takes pictures of them, so I went on the market without my camera. I wanted to spend my last dalasis (the currency of Gambia). 1000 dalasis = 17.75 Euro.
It was possible to go up the Arch 22 - so this is the view from there. The towers are from King Fahd Mosque.
We came to Banjul by ferry from Barra. I liked the women with sometimes four buckets on the head, the stolen photo (from behind the curtain) is in Workshop.

Hello Malgo,
the town looks not so ugly as you describe it, thanks to the high viewpoint. It's a pity that you could not take photos on the marketplace, but the "stolen photos" are not so bad, I'm glad you added them.
Kind regards,
Elvira

Hi Malgo,
The wideness of the city is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showeing the details of the buildings. There is a good contrast between the colours of the picture. Have a nice day.

Bonjour, chère Malgo,
Cette vue plongeante sur la ville jusqu'à l'horizon est bien agréable à regarder. L'on peut remarquer les différentes constructions (pauvres et moins pauvres).
Une présentation soignée.
Amitiés.

Hello Malgo,
That is a very small capital indeed, even the town where I live is bigger. It's a great view over the many red roofs of the city towards the river in the backgrond. The trees provide some nice splashes of green as well.

Hello Malgo,
A superb elevated view of the city with its sea of red roofs. Good sharpness and well framed and composed. The twin minarets of the bg mosque provide a good focal point. Tfs!

Hello Malgo,
This looks as a big city and modern - but looking carefully, we see not much of traffic on the roads and some of the houses has a tin cover instead of tiles.
Anyway, taken from a high point which shows well how large urban area there is.
The WS is a nice take from behind a curtain.
Have a happy New-Year & weekend,
Ike

Hello Malgo,
Maybe there has been improvements here since 1990, when I was in Banjul, but in those days it was the ugliest and most miserable capital city I have seen. Also, it wasn't very nice. But I only took 2 photos in Gambia, both at the Albert Market, and both showing lots of women, and nobody was angry. Maybe I am more discreet than you, so they didn't notice me. ;-) And I didn't come with a group of other white tourists.
This is a very nice view of the city, and in case it is still ugly and dirty we don't see it. It's a very sharp photo and the contrasts of brown and green are quite nice.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Malgo,
If you take a close look at the details of this fascinating picture (and that is possible with this sharp resolution) you will see striking differences in the buildings. Armetious corrugated roofs and further spacious villas.
Nice work.

Czesc Malgorzata,
Bardzo ciekawa panorama stolicy Gambii.
Patrzylem nawet na polaczenia tam teraz. Mamy troche czasu ale skromny budget. Wszystkie polaczenia o tej porze sa ogromnie drogie: juz od 7 stycznia ceny spadaja nawet dwukrotnie: Ja teoretycznie moglbym wziac urlop pozniej ale Nadia musi isc do szkoly... Musielibysmy placic surowe kary za nieobecnosc :(
Moze innym razem...
Pozdrawiam serdecznie,
Szcesliwego Nowego Roku,
M

Hello Malgo,
It's very interesting to see a wide view of this small and less-visited capital city. Brown and beige colors dominate, with splashes of green here and there. I like the high POV. It's too bad the women in the market didn't enjoy being photographed; their clothing is so colorful.

Ciao Malgo,i remember well the Arch 22 but i'm not been on its top. And it's a pity, the view from there is absolutely beautiful,i lost a great opportunity. The view on Banjul is lovely, very very sharp and made with colors that reminds a bit the old kodachrome film, well done. Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hi, Malgo.
It is the first photo I see of this city, which does not seem to have anything interesting, all the houses are at the same height, although some are larger and better built, wide plains.
A good natural colors, good lighting and excellent sharpness.
Well done. I love.
Enjoy the weekend.
Very best regards.
Luis.

I have heard that African women don't like their photo taken, even in Senegal sometimes, unless they get paid for them !
Banjul might be rather ugly, but your photo looks fine : The white building with the green roof and the 2 minarets of the mosque are eye-catchers.
Good portraits in WS. These women are incredibly skillful carrying these weights on their heads.
They also take good postures in their daily life in order to save their backs, unlike us Occidentals.
Have a good day !
Marie-Louise.
