Why "ray of hope"?

I know I didn't focus on the eyes. I know I shot this picture against the light. I know I didn't go down to the level of my model. I know, I know...

Yes, admittedly, this picture defied a lot of basic things about photography. I photographed this boy from different angles but this one turned out to be the best one because of that single ray of light that came out from nowhere. Taken in Djemma el Fnaa, Morocco under the intense summer heat, this boy was business as usual. A month after the bombing in Casablanca, business was slow for them(entertaining tourists with their wiggling head) but somehow, the light created a vision of a "ray of hope" for them.

Wow...I'm writing too much. Somehow, the memory of that trip is coming back.
