Photographer's Note
This is a lilac-breasted roller (Coracius caudatus), one of the most colorful birds in subSaharan Africa. It perches conspicuously on tree tops, poles, and other high vantage points from where it can spot prey... insects, lizards, scorpions, snails, and small birds moving on the ground.
