Photographer's Note

It's time for now to leave West Africa. I was happy to go home after four months, and the ugliness of Lagos made saying goodbye less painful.

This is one of the bridges connecting Lagos Island, where the central parts of the city are located, with the mainland. Somewhere to the left, near the water, I was dropped off by the shared taxi that had brought me from Cotonou in Benin. I had to find my way up the hill outside this photo, through a rather slummy area, before I could join the main street and try to reach the city centre.

The quality of this photo is certainly not very good, and the WS are even worse. But since this is my last upload of West Africa photos I show them to you anyway. They were all scanned from the usual Kodachrome slides.

Actually, I recently discovered an envelope of B&W prints from this journey and found some photos I didn't remember. So maybe in due time I will search my negatives and make a few new scans.

But starting with my next upload I will probably stay home for a short while.
