View of Elbrus at the Distance of 95 km, a photo from Stavropol, North Caucasus

Photographer's Note

When I was riding into Pyatigorsk along the M29 highway from the side of Mineralnye Vody, I soon got to the intersection seen in the picture. The way strait on along the Kalinin Avenue leads to the city’s center and further thru Kislovodsk to the Mt. Elbrus, situated at the strait-line distance of around 95 km from this place. The road to the left runs to the place of Lermontov’s deadly duel on the Mt. Mashuk. The Street of the 295th Rifle Division leads to the right towards the Beshtau Massif. Beshtau means Five Mountains or Pyatigorie in Russian that gave the name "Pyatigorsk" to the city.

it is ever interesting how these big mountains are visible so far. I remember huascaran in peru and how I saw it very far. nice image with many urban details too.,
