St Nicholas Church Tallinn, a photo from Harjumaa, Ouest

Photographer's Note

This old church was built between 1230 and 1515 when the central tower was added. The tower is 105 metres (344.5 ft) high although it doesn't seem like it from this angle. Bonjour Chris,

L'arbre cadre bien l'église. La prise de vue rapprochée permet de distinguer les détails de la vieille église. La lumière donne un bon contraste aux couleurs de l'image. Bonne journée.

Good evening Chris,
I see you were stroloing Tallin with your head up ! looking for more towers to take photos of.
Contrast under bright light from white and red (tiles) to blue (sky). The black tower also very bprominent element on picture.
Fine clear shot, bravo.

Hello Chris,

The limited palette has amazingly strong colours, no wonder you were attracted! I love how you have focussed on this section of the church, giving a new interpretation to the rule of three. Each part has its own orientation but come together in one dynamic structure.
I might even have cropped the tree which, for me, doesn't add to the detailed crop of the church.
I will do a little w/s. See what you think.

Yes, the blue sky against the red roof is irresistible to shoot. Indeed, it doesn't look so high. Nice picture with the dry tree. superb colours.

Hello Chris,

The 3-point perspective (with orthogonals converging at three separate vanishing points) is a good way to accentuate the height of the tower. Here it is the vivid colors, the roof tiles against the deep blue sky that is most dramatic. I think this is the church that dominates the area from the classic lookout point in the old city.
