On a slow day ..., a photo from Istanbul, Marmara

Photographer's Note

One of my esteemed colleagues once remarked I have too many pictures of inanimate subjects. And I tend to agree.

So here is one that features people, a lot of people actually, on the grand bazaar in Istanbul. One of the few pictures that I took, that has people in it. I just stood in front of the bazaar, climbed on something and took a snap, so the composition is not all that it`s supposed to be and it`s quite .. unsymmetrical. The cropping was virtually impossible, because of the woman on the far right.

Most of the people look quite tired, I understand them completely. Tired and a just a bit frustrated. Looks like they got .. "more than they bargained for". :D

Hi Miha,
A successful photo of this place full of people. They add many colours to your photo and also the light is enhancing. A superb vertical composition also shows a nice perspective along the roof construction. Well captured!

Dragi Miha,

vraćam ti samo dva poena za onih dvanaest i za ono "Srbi braćo". Za Sloveniju vredi pevati na Evroviziji!

Razumeo sam da si ovu fotkicu izvadio iz uspomena i te uspomene možemo da podelimo, pošto sam istom stazom prošao i ja tamo neke godine. Lepo je videti vrevu na istambulskom bazaru. Hvala ti za sve!

Wow Miha, suddenly we get so many people together ! Very interesting crowd IMO, a mix of all kind of people and the youngsters on the left who are not moving make a nice contrast. Yes it's difficult to crop in that situation, but maybe you could nonetheless have cropped a bit on the right and more of the top of the photo - anyway, this said : good sharpness and colours - and certainly an interesting subject !

You were not mistaken, this image is animated. Within sight of crowd, I imagine the hubbub, and the odors emanating of the gravers. Your framing is well calculated, and the exposure is perfect which makes it possible to see in the shade and the light. Good and beautiful work.

I think I have seen this market shot posted but you have captured a larger crowd and more busy day at the entrance arch. Really interesting to see that markets all over the world are very popular and crowded places that ordinary people visit and buy daily needs. Your shot has good exposure where interior shadow area is not dark to lose details.
