Photographer's Note

The Cemetery of the Defenders of Lwów or Cemetery of Eaglets is a memorial and a burial place for the Poles who died in Lviv (Polish: Lwów) during the hostilities of the Polish-Ukrainian War and Polish-Soviet War between 1918 and 1920.

The complex is a part of the city's historic Lychakivskiy Cemetery. There are about 3000 graves in that part of the cemetery; some from the Lwów Eaglets young militia volunteers, after whom that part of the cemetery is named. It was one of the most famous necropolises of the interwar Poland.

Très impressionnante cette photo de toutes ces croix semblables, prises en diagonales. Bonne idée de publier en N/B. Je m'apprêtais justement à publier une photo de cimétière mais j'ésitais un peu. Bonne composition et bon contraste, en passant du blanc au noir par tous les ton de gris. Beau travail et excellente note.

Witam! Następne bardzo dobre zdjęcie z Cmentarza Orląt. Ciekawe takie spojrzenie z góry, podobnie jak poprzednie Twoje zdjęcia z tego miejsca, bardzo dobrze wykadrowane. Dobra czarno-biała i do tego zimowa kolorystyka. Robi wrażenie ta praca. Pozdrawiam! Andrzej

Another great shot of these crosses, perhaps even better than the previous one. The angle of the lines, cutting across the frame from corner to corner, is really dramatic, an effect which enhanced by the use of black & white. The low angle light gives this a lot of texture to the surfaces, especially of the snow. Excellent work!

Excellent graphism of this shot. I've often thought that tombstones sticking out of the snow would work well and it's the case. The forms in the snow and shadows are excellent.

Czesc,
ladna seria, fajna perspektywa w tym ujeciu rowniez. Zamiast zolnierzy w rzedach stoja krzyze i swiadcza o tym, ze tu byli i walczyli. Fajna gra cieni i swiatla.

Witaj Michale!

Wiesz co? To jest z tych trzech moim zdaniem najlepsze. Ponieważ kadr jest prosty ( mimo że diagonalny ;), więc i moja krytyka będzie taka.

Wstrząsające w tym miejscu jest to jak śmierć wielu istnień została sprowadzona do prostej geometrii krzyży. To zdjęcie oddaje to w sposób nadzwyczajny. CZ-B pozwala skupić się wyłącznie na tej geometrii.

Faktycznie fajna ta seria, fajne zdjecie, super kompozycja, extra powtarzalne schematy... Dobre swiatlo, mile cienie, odbicia na sniegu - calosc na piatke:)
