Photographer's Note
Originally named Misión San Antonio de Valero, the Alamo served as home to missionaries and their Indian converts for nearly seventy years. Construction began on the present site in 1724. In 1793, Spanish officials secularized San Antonio's five missions and distributed their lands to the remaining Indian residents. These men and women continued to farm the fields, once the mission's but now their own, and participated in the growing community of San Antonio.
I decided to include the hotel in the background to show how small this mission actually is. The Alamo is located in the center of the city of San Antonio with modern buildings and roads all around.

Hello,
I've seen The Alamo and heard the story behind that little window but looking at this picture with the hotel as the background somehow makes it more majestic. Very well composed with excellent clarity.
Well done!

Jusni.

Hello Asa,
Great composition to show us this mission.
You could shot it without buildings and roads which seem to be so close.
The hotel you included in the composition is a very nice building too and I think it was a good idea to show it too.
The sky is so deeply blue and sharp!!!

Hi Asa,
In a way the hotel also offers a cultural contrast ... the old against the new. The people adds scale of dimension to the scene. Well captured and composed. Well done! tfs

A good composition that has both the hotel and people in it for scale. Well exposed and the tree on the right helps to frame the Alamo along with the hotel on the right.

Hi Asa,
What first strikes the viewer in this image are the superb colors and the outstanding clarity, then at second glance I wonder why they had the need to build this high rise hotel next to such a landmark, although I must admit from a style point of view I have seen worse ones. Nice photo.
Have a nice day JY

Hello Asa,
as a comparison interesting but unfortunately as a consequence we can not see very much from the mission building. (In your place I would have put this into the WS and uploaded a closer view from the facade that seems to be so finely hewn.) Lighting and colours are very good.
Best whishes

Hi Asa,
Fine sky and colours of the buildings. The composition with the big building to the left gives a good balance.

Hi Asa,
Good photo of an interesting place, but the most attractive aspect of it is the colour. You got it perfectly.

Both buildings are interesting in different ways, but personally I would have tried to keep the historical buidling on its own, since the name is so ladden with history and probably also legends and even myths, that it would have be nice to keep it separated from the mere triviality of everyday life.
All the best,
Emmanuel

Bonsoir Asa,
Je reviens sur cette photo car je ne onnais Alamo que par le film, un western vu il y a plus de 40 ans déjà ;o)
Je découvre la mission ... ainsi que l'immense hôtel érigé en arrière-plan. Quel contraste d'architecture !
Merci du partage.

Hi Asa, i only know the city of San antonio for its basketball team and the fact that our best french player plays there : tony parker. I discover that the alamo is located there too !
Interesting the compo with those 2 buildings which seems to have some decades or difference in age !
Good one

Hi Asa,
Excellent clear crisp colors, with the green surrounding the grey stone contrasting wonderfully with the cloudless blue sky. An excellent bit of history with a very informative note.
