Welcome to Tamandua, a photo from Parana, Sud

Photographer's Note

Driving 40km from Curitiba by the road BR277 we reach the unpaved road to Tamandua, a region that belongs to Balsa Nova. Riding the BR277, just on the top of São Luiz do Purunã Sierra, this is the very beggining of the road to Tamanduá. The little village of São Luiz do Purunã is to the right of the BR277 and Tamanduá is to the left, at the same point.
In the summer, specially at afternoon, it is commom to see a dark sky over the Sierra, or coming to it, like here. I had the sun on my back (West) and the clouds on the East could make my favorite weather effects. Hope you like it.

Curiosa essa imagem, um tempo fechado como essa mas com o sol forte, criou um contraste interessante! Gostei do cavalo fazendo pose pra foto também!

Fantástica Zeca,
o primeiro plano bem iluminado, com a beleza de todo o conjunto, cavalo, cerca, caminho e árvore; associado com tempo fechado ao fundo, faz com que eu registre esta foto como uma das minhas favoritas.

Jose you most certainly deserve much more attention in this wonderful photo. I love how the frame captures the details so nicely . Add to that the wonderful horse on the left and the dark sky above. Excellent composition Jose.. thanks for sharing! Have you thought of getting the Canon 70-200 F4 L lens? I have had mine for two years now and keep finding new creative ideas for shots like this. Good work!

como sempre uma bela imagem, realmente o céu tempestuoso ao fundo e a luz forte ilumindando o primeiro plano é sempre uma maravilha a ser vista. Gostei de tudo, pena que o palanque da cerca prejudicou um pouco a figura do cavalo

Excellent photo! The horse seems to be standing guard over the road. The lighting and colors are great with nice sharpness and detail. Your composition is great using the road to lead the eye through the photo.

Hi Jose,

Wonderful tones in this shot. The earth tones, the tree in deep dark green - like the smiley you're getting for this one. The horse really does seem to guard the road. The DoF does need some seconds to get used to. First thing I thought was 'Hmmm, what happened to the tree?'. But looking a bit further, I see how your eye then wanders automatically to the horse. And that makes it a great composition.

A dramatic seen from the nature, and the the main actor is there in a stunning pose.The lone tree and the curving muddy path adds a lot to this composition. Dark clouds in the BG looks horrifying.Great shot of this place. TFS

This is a really good example of light. The colors are very rich and expressive if that makes sense. The winding road adds lots of depth and creates great visual tension.

Wonderful composed with great balance. The horse and the tree to the right and the path in between creates a really perfect composition. Colour toning is deep and intense, just as they should be. A strong and powerful picture....really good work on this one.

This image has such a good mood to it, and I like the contrast of the paeceful, calm horse against the stormy sky. It reflects that the animal has no problems with what the weather brings. The position of the horse and the warm lighting on the road add such strenght to the overall image. Well done.

Zeca, apesar de achar um pouco subexposta (pode ser problema do monitor aqui) essa é uma de suas fotos mais bonitas! Ficou maravilhosa o cavalo ali te olhando, como se esperando pelo dono para cavalgar sobre o campo debaixo da chuva que está prestes a cair... Lindo esse céu nublado contrastanto bem com o barro de primeiro plano!

The place in itself would be nice but not that spectacular, even with this nice horse, but what really makes it spectacular is that superb light that gave a tremenduous boost to the contrasts and the colors, resulting in a very luminous image.

Zeca, vc tem razao, este tipo de tempo com o ceu escurao e uma das suas marcas registradas. Sempre quando eu vejo alguem em TE com este efeito eu penso que a foto deveria estar na sua galeria. O cavalo deu um elemento muito especial e esta muito bem colocado em sua composicao.

It is so nice for a photograph to be outside when the sky gets very dark while there is still a somptuous light on the ground. Clearly you happened to be there at the right time and you made marvels out of it. Composition is perfect with the horse and the tree. Excellent work.

Lovely photo, very colourful, charming light. And a very good composition, the tree, horse, road, dark moody sky, all is in balance. Main subjects nicely placed off centre. The road creates some fine depth. Good vivid saturation and fine contrast and presentation with this dark border. Sharpness is also okay. WEll done.

Imponente foto con la presencia del caballo pero para mi mas importante la forma que captaste el camino en una subida con el cielo gris detras. Buena iluminacion delante y oscuro detras. Magnifica.

I am planning 400D (now I do have 300D) but I don't have any wide angle.
Could U tell me please something about this basic lens which are considern to be not good.
