Photographer's Note

One of the most visible characteristics of Bhutan are dzongs. The word meaning fortress in Tibetan are military castles as well as adinistrative centers. They are strategically placed by the river side, sometimes high on hilltops, for enhanced control of the region especially during war times.
Punakha dzong is the second czong of Bhutan. It was built in 1637. It is 180 mt long and 70 mt wide. It is still the main winter palace of Central Monk Body. Punakha Dzong is unique because it has three docheys (courtyards) as opposed to the the usual two in other dzongs. Administrative quarters, monastic quarters and an "extra" courtyard where remains of tantric lamas (tentrons) and holy figures from 17th century are preserved.

Hi,
It's always interesting to see pictures from this seldomly visited country. This photo works fine as a "this is what it looks like"-photo, and that's what this website is about. There are some technical things though, there is a green cast, which can be fixed using curves or levels (and probably in a million other ways) in some post-processing program. The picture is also looks a little bit tilted.

Ebru, a very intesting shot of a very unusual location. Panorama is excellent. Colors... I think they are slightly into blue area.

Allô Ebru!
Trés intéressante cette photo qui nous montre ce bel édiffice du 17ème siècle. Le paysage qui l'entoure est magnifique en plus de la rivière et des montagnes. Excellente composition et bonne note. La photo est un peu inclinée et manque un peu de contraste. J'ai préparé un Workshop, juste une autre façon de voir.

Un superbe endroit entouré de verdure et un bâtiment étonnant qui ressemble bien peu à nos forteresses militaires françaises...
