‘Kompong Phluk - Socialising under the homes’

In the note to my previous photo, I talked about the space under the high stilt houses in Kompong Phluk that became available during the dry season.
That space was used as a storage place for a lot of things. In this photo you can also catch a glimpse of a boat.
At the same time, these spaces are also the places where the people of the village can meet.

All the houses in Kompong Phluk were built on very high stilts with a staircase down to the waterline where you arrived by boat.
The houses were built in long rows. However, I didn’t see some kind of wooden walkway that passed the houses as I saw in other villages with stilt houses in Malaysia and Brunei.
Like, for example, on my previously shown photo of Patau-Patau in Labuan.

In fact, during the rainy season the residents of Kompong Phluk had to travel by boat to their closest neighbours.
