Photographer's Note

Beijing City Wall in Chinese history, the last two generations of Ming and Qing dynasty, the capital. It was built starting in year 1264. After the completion of Beijing City Wall, Beijing has repeatedly faced with the invasion of the Mongolian and it is proven that protecting the city.

Until early 20 century, because of the wars, many part of the City Wall was destroyed. In 1950s, expansion of the city also result in demolished of the walls.

Currently, only few of the left.

From 2001 to 2002, located in the south of Beijing Railway Station Beijing city wall within the south eastern part of the wall length of 1540 meters have been finishing repair, as the "Ming City Wall Ruins Park," open, and was listed as key cultural relics protection units in Beijing.

This is part of the the wall. As history, as our memory for Beijing.

The right top corner is a watchtower. The windows were designed for archers and later setting up some cannon.
