Photographer's Note
Beijing Hutong(alleyway) is the reflection of original architecture
and culture of Beijing.
it had been building since the Yuan dynasty
and developed during the Qing dynasty.
But when i first came to visit Hutong,
i got a big suprise that most of the Hutongs
look like a street bustling with activity and many shops.
then, if you had taken the tricycle to look around,
the driver would has told you
in the past the Hutong were so quite,
the residents were so nice, the...not like now.
from his deep regrets expression for this
you would soon have found
the history and lifestlye of the old Beijing
have been getting farther and farther from us.

very nice photo, a sad scene somehow, the experssion of the girl, the way she holds her baby... and that pink color, like from another story. i like the compo with that person on the right. interesting work

Artistically, a great picture with a lot of impact. Her expression takes you right from the heart. It makes you feel sad for her.
Technically, the picture is a little off focus and looks like it could be straighten up a little. I like the overall composition.
Nice job!

Amazingly dramatic framing here - tis is very exciting photography as well as fine documentation. The looming shadowy cyclist on the right brings enormous drama to this shot, with the pink mother and child standing, lost in the doorway...
You have a powerful, unique vision, Mingfang.
Lucky us!

Hello Mingfang. I like how you framed this photo with the driver of the tricycle, good idea. The woman standing in the corner is very interesting, she looks like she is hiding or keeping from the wind, she looks so sad. well, you did an excellent job in making this image.

With Narayan and you.. you guys are giving us some lovely shots from the Hutongs area.
About this one I really like your idea to include the man on right as it brings the focus the woman in the corner... she looks very pensive... Bala

Dear Mingfang,
Another beautiful shot, in all its tenderness and point of view. You show us the hutongs, like Narayan, and we get the image of a very unique, old, yet dying place... and the mother and child expresses a lot here, standing in the ornamental doorway etched by rust... so powerful.

This picture is really touching. I love your framing and the way the woman is just a splash of colour in a grey scene.
I have just discovered your gallery and I think your stuff is wonderful.

Intense, sad view of hutong atmosphera. This is a great interpretation of what is happening there, more intense than any written description

I like the pic. The background has grey colour with the pink/red colour on the lady. It guide us to the focus point.
