Photographer's Note

A tibetian hotel, restaurant compound on the way to Lhasa. The resturant is built around the cooking stove, and is also the family home. rooms for travelers are across a courtyard. It is 30 below 0, at night. The Tibetian family sleeps on couches used to seat diners, in the cozy building. My tiny room had thick comforters to keep me warm at night, there was no other heat for me. All cooking is done with dried Yak manure paddies. They dry everywhere, and are stored in huge bee hive looking mounds often. The food in this type of establishment is so delicous!
