This old teahouse in Huangjeuping is an absolute delight - it is a step back into an era before I was born....the smells, the sounds, game playing and general atmosphere, including the general fug of excessive cigarette smoking.....not to mention the interesting ideas about toilets! This place is famous and has even featured briefly in a contemporary Chinese gangster film.

The teahouse also attracts its fair share of young artists who excel in human portraiture and can spend endless amounts of time in this lively yet relaxed, dark cavernous barn of a meeting place.

This probably is where the UFO maintenance crew goes to when the job is done. For a good cuppa and a smoke...and they deserve it.

Hi Kev,
A real socialist feeling here, the workers, looking fatigued, enjoy their smoke and drink and why not. The muted tones, almost grey, reflect another era, the atmosphere, I can feel it..it must have been something to have been there.

Wonderful shot indeed. Very good tasteful atmosphere by slow shutter and under exposure. Well management for light and color are also remarkable and marvelous.
